We are delighted to announce that Dr Gareth Tuckwell has joined the ME Trust as Chairman of our trustees. Gareth is the former Medical director of Burrswood Hospital and was subsequently, for five years, its CEO. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of ME, wider healthcare and the management of healthcare providers.
‘I am excited to be on board at a time when the ME Trust is forging ahead with plans to establish a Centre that would offer people with ME the opportunity to be heard, valued, understood and accompanied on their journey to full recovery’.
Our outgoing Chairman, Howard Morris, said:
‘Gareth joining our board and taking the role of Chair is a welcome and important event. He has a deep understanding of the challenges of ME for those with the condition and those who support and care for them. As an accomplished doctor, Gareth will help the ME Trust’s work to support the community with ME and their families, be deeply involved in advocacy for them, and work to provide more and more accessible and successful treatments.’
Hannah Clifton, Director and founder of the ME Trust, said:
’Gareth has a wealth of leadership experience, including ten years on the board of Macmillan Cancer Support. This will be invaluable to the ME Trust as we develop our services, providing diagnosis, treatment and support to people with ME who fall through the existing care net.’
